F.A.Q
1. Is this tour physically demanding?
Answer: Not at all. Unlike the sunrise hike to the summit of Mount Sinai, this tour focuses on the historical and spiritual sites at the base of the mountains. It is a cultural and sightseeing experience suitable for families, seniors, and anyone who prefers a comfortable exploration without the need for strenuous climbing.
2. What is the appropriate dress code for the Monastery?
Answer: As Saint Catherineโs is an active, sacred monastery, modest attire is strictly required. Both men and women should cover their shoulders and knees. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a light scarf, as the mountain air can be cooler than the coast.
3. When is the best time to visit Saint Catherine?
Answer: The monastery is beautiful year-round. However, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) offer the most pleasant temperatures. In winter, you might be lucky enough to see the unique sight of the monastery covered in snow, though it can be quite cold.
4. Are there specific days when the Monastery is closed?
Answer: Yes, the Monastery follows the Greek Orthodox calendar and is usually closed on Fridays, Sundays, and during religious holidays. We always synchronize your booking with the monasteryโs opening hours to ensure a guaranteed visit.
5. How long is the drive from Sharm El Sheikh?
Answer: The drive takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours each way. However, the route is incredibly scenic, passing through some of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in the Sinai Peninsula, making the journey part of the adventure.
6. Do we need a visa for this trip?
Answer: Since this tour leaves the "Sharm El Sheikh Only" zone and enters the Sinai mainland, you will need a standard Egyptian Tourist Visa (the sticker visa). If you arrived via the free "Sinai Only" stamp, we can advise you on how to obtain the correct visa before the trip starts.
